Furthermore they estimates approximately 6,300 million metric tonnes, it’s thought that around 12% of all plastic waste has been incinerated, with roughly 79% accumulating in either landfill or the natural environment.
According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Approximately 8% of the world’s oil production is used to make plastic and power the manufacturing of it. This number is projected to increase to 20 percent by 2050.
According to Euromonitor, approximately 1 million plastic bottles are sold every minute around the world.
According to Roland Greyer Professor at the University of Santa Barabara, Plastic recycling rates in Europe are at 30 percent. China approx 25 percent. The United States 9 percent.
